Although it drives millions of weblogs all over the world, WordPress is a powerful publishing platform that is increasingly being used to power online magazines and other news-driven Web sites; sites that fall outside the domain of ‘blogs’. Contrary to popular belief, WordPress isn’t just a ‘blogging application’. It can be (and is being) used for a whole lot more.

The Morning After is a magazine-style theme for WordPress created by Arun Kale. The theme was created based on a brief survey on the WordPress forums about what people would want to see in a unique magazine-style theme. The theme design is grid-based and has the following requested features:

• Associating images/thumbnails with recent posts
• Customisable logo/header image

Der Header in diesem Theme ist eine tolle Komposition mit einem netten Eisbären. Vielleicht ist es ja auch Knut? Oder Knuts Papa? Wer weiss…

Das Theme passt gut zu Blogs, die sich mit Wintersport, Winterreisen, Eisbären, Arktisurlaub oder Eskimos beschäftigen. Wieviele Blogs es wohl geben mag, die sich mit Eskimos beschäftigen?

Bestimmt kann man es auch einfach so benutzen, wenn man die Winterlandschaft toll findet und im Blog über die Kanarischen Inseln schreibt…

Echte Mac-Fans werden sich über das Theme im produkttypischen Glossy-Style mit dem weltbekannten angebissenen Apfel freuen – ja, es ist fass ein “Muss” für Apple-User! Bis ins Detail hat der Theme-Autor sein Werk der Optik seines Lieblingsgerät angepasst. Dabei ist die Nutzbarkeit und Übersichtlichkeit nicht auf der Strecke geblieben und das Layout bietet genug Spielraum für Bild- und Textpräsentationen aller Art. Ganz wichige Seiten wie der “Home”-Link oder das Impressum erhalten auf Wunsch einen privilegierten Platz in der Leiste über der Headergrafik.

Das Theme bietet Raum nicht nur für Computerthemen, es ist immer noch neutral genug für andere Themenschwerpunkte.

It is now possible to run your very own iphone wordpress blog that actually looks like an iphone. iphonefans.com have released a wordpress 2.3 compatible version of the iphoned theme. The theme is already at version 1.5 and although pretty simple in it’s display of content features a range of nice features including ical style dates and the live time in the right hand corner.

The theme is sadly not widget ready but your local coding application will allow you to update and customise the sidebar with ease
